Love Letter to my Daughters

Brooke at Bye Comparison does a weekly letter to her daughters. She calls these Allmothers letters, and invites all mothers to share their wisdom in these letters on her blog.

My goal was to do these letters weekly…

I enjoyed reading a letter she wrote a couple of months ago called Loving, Living & Leaving and decided to write one with those words in mind.

Dear Girls,

You are loved and wanted. Some days you may not feel that way, but please know it is true. Dad and I love you, big brother Eli loves you. And, even if it doesn’t seem like it, your biological parents love you too. That is why they asked us to adopt you.

awesome daughter

You may not realize it, but you both have overcome so much already! You have healed both mentally and physically to be the girls, and soon the young women God wants you to be. Don’t EVER forget you are strong, even when you don’t feel like it. And when you feel weak, because everyone does, reach out to someone who loves you.

Surround yourself with loving, supportive people. If someone tries to take you down, take them down by getting them out of your life! Your independence and vivaciousness are assets. I know you will take full advantage of them to do your very best.

Stay as close to each other as you are now. Don’t let petty differences get in the way, and NEVER let money or a man come between you. The friendship and bond of sisterhood is complex yet priceless. You will argue and you will lift each other up; both are necessary in love.

If you choose to get married and/or have children, make sure you’re ready for the accompanying commitment and responsibility; you’re in it for the long haul. Marriage is not a Disney movie and love has many aspects. Trust me, these things are not easy, but they are worth it.

Not my soul mate

Be honest with yourself and others. Although it may be difficult at the time, it is so much better in the long run. But remember, examine your motive before taking action; don’t act if you’re motivated by control, fear, jealousy, anger or hate.

love yourself

Be Kind to Yourselves

Love Yourselves Unconditionally

You Deserve It!!

  1. Wonderful advice, especially the part about marriage!! I wonder if that’s why Disney movies never show the part about what happens after the wedding!! 😀
